Apparently no-one got too carsick last post,so here is the second instalment for those not adverse to dirt roads
and the weirdness offered by the Great Australian Bush!

The second part of our journey was on the way home
from our romantic (read: non-washing up-involving) lunch
at the local pub...
for the record I had a steak sandwich.
I always do.
(Keeping those ol' iron levels healthy there!)
So this is one of the views from the road about half an hour into the trip.This is country I have never seen before...
despite the fact that it is within an hour of home.
I am a bit ashamed of this, I have to say.
I know certain cities better than I know my own back yard!
It is beautiful, no?
This shot shows some Brangus cattle grazing contentedly on a flat near a creek amongst the blue gums. It doesn't get a whole lot more restful, and Queensland country, than this...
And then we stumbled across something really remarkable which cause me to call out:
STOP. RIGHT. NOW.
And with hardly a long-suffering sigh, Mr Incredible did halt the Prado.

When a woman weilding a Nikon calls out, you must stop the car to take photos.

What a great place you live in! So beautiful. And i've always wondered what a prickly pear looks like, it's so pretty. I love that color. I'm saving my pennies for an Aussie vacation and was going to ask you your favorite places. Now i think i'm going to head to the country instead of the cities. :-)

What part of that prickly pear does the juice come from? I've heard of prickly pear juice....and a prickly pear martini, as well!

Gorgeous prickly pear photos. I actually took photos of ours the other day but they are no where near as nice as yours. We have a prickly pear cactus about the size of the one you photographed in our back garden. It's absolutely massive. The Handsome Austrlian's family LOVES the fruit. They come around each year at this time and carefully pick and peel them. A lot of work involved.

Wow! That is a ginormous prickly pear! It's gorgeous, too. I've mostly seen small cactus with just one or two leaves and occasionally a larger clump, certainly never anything that size.
I loved the ride! Now I've got yet another favorite BB photo - the Brangus (is that REALLY a cattle name?) cattle and blue gum trees!
And I'd love to hear Jeanie rattle off the old "How much wood would a woodchuck chuck....." piece!

Yep, love prickly pear in flower, up around the backroads of central Victoria it's a bright splash of colour when you drive around a corner.
