You know how I got excited about the little bit of rain that finally arrived at Granite Glen a few days ago? And how steaming hot it has been round these parts.Well I decided to use my trusty Nikon to "freeze the raindrops".

VIEW: Looking out our side door from our hallway at the rain spilling over the gutter.
TECHNIQUE: bracketing (doing a series of photos using gradually changing settings). I used Shutter priority (letting the camera work out the light issues) and altered the shutter speed. See the changes as the speed gets faster...
Ta Da! And that is my party trick for today...
it is safe to try this one at home, kids.

I had the biggest flock of white cockatoos go over before.
I have a hill behind me, with bush, where they must live, and a pine forest in front of me, where they fly to. I am in their flight path and get to enjoy them every day. :)
They take a break at my house, and sit on the phone wires and on my trees. Then they all noisily take off again.

Ah precipitation....it's cold here but no snow. I could try this at the kitchen sink.

Love the rain caught in time.
I guess it would be bad to wish for another ice storm, but they do make for some of the best pictures. Even in the hands of an inexpert sort like myself.

Mrs. Incredible, you do amazing stuff! It's rather drippy at our house currently--don't be jealous--to the accumulation of 2" of moisture at the moment. May your days be blessed with all that you need!

Ohhh, that is cool. I wonder if it would work with snow falling? I'll have to try lol. I have a Nikon D90 and it's brand new, so I'll really have to start playing with it. Thanks for an easy idea to start me off! (or what seems like an easy idea!) I also saw on someone's site (awful but can't remember who) that they set up their sprinkler to produce the rain effect and got some great shots of their strawberry patch. And the sun was shining, it looked neat. LOVE photography!!!
