Big hoofprints to fill...

Ready for the answer to yesterday's mystery?
I am not sure you are...
and tragically lost him a couple of months ago?
Well... we have been watching these two swelling bellies in the paddock next door to the house for months now... forgive me, but I didn't want to blog it for fear of jinxing the much-anticipated arrival of Admiral's offspring. Bushies are really superstitious when it comes to this kind of thing.
...
And then yesterday, Mr Incredible burst in on my secret Christmas wrapping afternoon marathon (in my air-conditioned bedroom.. it was 40 C outside, OK!) to inform me that I needed to come outside PRONTO.
And the look on his face could have meant only one thing...

Ohhhh... Hello One Thing ...
brand-spanking new, kinda wobbly One Thing.

First feed time Baby?
Hang on... checking closer... it's a boy!
A colt. Wow...
...
Mama is Jill - one of my hubby's main steeds til she was put to Admiral earlier this year. He has missed her - she's a tough mare who can travel long and hard. She has real stamina. And heart. But one look here...
...and it's all worthwhile...
My Lord those are some knobbly wobbly knees...
And some tippy tippy toes...
What looks like four white socks...
And the sweetest crooked star...
Oh dear... check out that ear fuzz...
and those sweet untested bony shoulders...

Oh, you cheeky possum!

And with that, Jill decides One Thing's debut into the world of the papparazzi is over. She nudges her hours-old colt and he staggers alongside her. Slowly she moves away from the crowd and patiently guides him towards the trees on the ridge...

See you later little fella... you don't know it yet, but you have some big hoofprints to fill.

Son of Admiral...

Oh my gosh oh my gosh!!!! He is so beautiful! My heart welled all up, as did my eyes... That knobby kneed little beauty just made my uterus ache. Jill looks like a good mama too. I'm very excited to be getting updates on this little fellow. What's his name????

I think it should be Phersti. WV ;-)

I am so glad I checked back. I am in South Dakota, USA and we are about to embark on a blizzard. It does my heart good to know the sun is out somewhere in this world --although 40 degrees! YIKES!

I'm so glad you shared this little fella' with us, he is absolutely beautiful. I am truly touched that his father lives on. Amazing.

Aww...that is so special. I remember the loss of Admiral, it was so sad. The cycle of life continues. You got some really cute pics of the little guy....and oh goodness! Those knobby crooked little legs! I bet he'll be running around in no time.
Be sure to let us know the wee one's name!

he he he - he is really cute. I have seen him "for real" and definitely got some attitude going on there.

Now, I am not going to say anything about BB's "And guys...the surprises ain't over" comment - cause she would smack me...

Darn - just noticed I am signed in as you... I could save this, go out and change into the me that google recognises or just be lazy and say "hey, its Jeanie really but someone else is using my machine!!

Good thing I haven't posted my blog yet, otherwise it would show up on yours and really confuse the world.

I will come and help in the kitchen now.

Your ever loving sister...

Beautiful. And much more exciting than a geyser spewing forth gold silver and uranium. ;^)

Any birth is miracle and a time to celebrate!

I can't add anything more than has already been said, but thank you for sharing that BB. Lump-in-the-throat MIRACLE.

Congrats! To all those involved, but esp. to the colt's parents. Did a great job, didn't they. And, BB, great pictures. Wouldn't expect anything less.

Oh, and Jeanie, way to go! Disguising yourself as your sister. So, does that mean her machine went belly-up?

Y'all have a very MERRY CHRISTMAS! (Even if it's not in the snow!);-}

WV is: dicing. De-icing? Not where you are, right?

Debby said...

Are you going to name him Admiral?

Scotty said...

Very cute indeed, BB - will there be a competition to pick a name or have you got something chosen already?

:-)

BB said...

THanks for feedback everyone!!! For those who got confused by my sister - she was staying here and commenting on my blog but on her laptop... which I had already been logged into (mine is about to cark it!). So the last BB comment was actually a JEANIE COMMENT...

Might have a naming contest soon... let me confer.
